While Google’s Eric Schmidt may have once served on the board of directors at Apple, that apparently hasn’t affected his impartiality. The search giant’s executive chairman took a direct shot at Apple today in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, sending the Cupertino company a personal message, letting them know that the current way they are conducting business is laughingly based on a “teenage model of competition,” as the press would like to put it.

Its the season to be grateful for all sorts of possibilities and Apple is grateful for the ability to file yet another patent dispute against you guessed it— Samsung. According to Foss Patents, Apple would like to add additional variations of popular Samsung devices including the Jelly Bean-powered Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Tab 8.9 WiFi, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Rugby Pro and Galaxy S III mini, to its ever-growing list of devices accused of patent infringement.
Apple and HTC forced to show licensing agreement to Samsung’s legal team
Not too long ago, HTC and Apple reached a settlement to end their patent disputes. Rumors were that it was a little unfair, but either way Samsung saw it as an opportunity to help their legal case against Apple and requested the details of the agreement be released. Fortunately for Samsung, Judge Paul S. Grewal agreed to the request, despite being “more than a little skeptical.” Samsung is planning to use that licensing deal to counter Apple’s injunctions by saying that Apple is fine with getting paid for their IP and patents, as is the case with that massive billion dollar payout, and therefore issuing injunctions against Samsung devices is an unnecessary step.

By now, most of us are aware of HTC’s licensing deal with Apple that’s speculated to pay out between $6 and $8 per HTC phone. Samsung wants to exactly what that licensing deal covered. Why, you ask? If Apple licensed it’s “user-experience patents” to HTC, it could completely change these patent wars. Before, Apple has refused to license those user-experience patents, but if they were licensed to HTC but not offered to Samsung, well… I’m sure you can imagine that doesn’t look too great in the courtroom.

According to new research from our Country Share Tracker (CST) service, Samsung’s Galaxy S3 overtook Apple’s iPhone 4S to become the world’s best-selling smartphone model for the first time ever in the third quarter of 2012.

Would you be surprised if I said Apple is trying to sue Samsung over their Galaxy Note 10.1? No? Didn’t think so. Apple told a judge in California that Samsung infringes patents on the Samsung Note 10.1, and even wanted to add Android 4.1 into that lawsuit. Now, to be fair, this is in reaction to Samsung suing Apple over LTE patents in the iPhone 5, but even after Samsung is making clear strides to differentiate their phones and tablets from Apple’s products, Apple still continues to litigate.

Apple posts new statement about Samsung case after court rebuke
After a rather stinging development this week when the UK court of appeals chastised Apple for their recent attempt to post a court-ordered statement on their web site concerning one of their many lawsuits with Samsung, Apple has posted a new statement on their UK web site. Apple was required to post a statement indicating Samsung did not copy the iPad when producing the Galaxy line of tablet devices.
